Swindon paper beats snapper ban with Subbuteo

This is how the Swindon Advertiser toyed with Southampton Football Club's ban on the media sending photographers to its St.Mary's ground.
The Advertiser used Subbuteo players to picture how Swindon Town gave the Saints a 3-0 hiding in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round last night.
The Advertiser said: "Several members of the sports desk raided their parents' attics and came up with quite a collection of items from the childhood game. And after a quick paint-job we were able to go back to our youths and recreate the key moments from Town's drubbing of the Saints."

• Southampton has banned all photographers except for its own staff from matches at its home ground. This has provoked a media boycott with newspapers refusing to buy pictures provided by the club.
