In October the News of the World will put up a paywall and launch a new paid-for website. NoW editor Colin Myler says: "Notw.co.uk will have extra content that you can't find anywhere else. This includes exclusive news, showbiz and sport, plus unique videos and pictures. With better delivery, content and greater depth, the site will also be packed with innovative features. "These include the Quick Flick reader, which takes you from story to story at a super-fast pace, a bigger, better video player, which brings our top scoops to life and a stunning new Fabulous magazine section. And soon we'll also raise the curtain on our new iPad app and mobile site so that you can enjoy the biggest stories in the best possible way, wherever you are."
I am a freelance journalist based in the UK and was deputy editor of Press Gazette, the journalists' magazine, from 1993 until 2006. I want to give an independent view on media matters.
