The NUJ is inviting applications for the job of editor of the union's magazine, The Journalist, as Tim Gopsill heads for retirement after 21 years in the post.
The editor is subject to election by ballot of the NUJ membership every five years. It is a full time post based at the union's London headquarters. To be short-listed to stand in the election candidates must be a member of the union with five years continuous membership and show they possess the skills necessary to edit the magazine.
Under Tim Gopsill The Journalist has had a successful redesign to coincide with its centenary at the end of last year but financial constraints imposed by the union have meant its frequency has been cut back from 10 to six issues a year.
Closing date for applications for the editorship is noon on Monday 21 September 2009.
