Media lawyer Mark Stephens claimed on the BBC Rdio 4's Today programme this morning that celebrities whose phones had allegedly been hacked by private detectives on behalf of journalists were already taking legal advice about suing.
Today the Guardian reports:"The Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, and the former Newcastle United manager Alan Shearer are among those whose private telephone messages were recorded by a private investigator working for the News of the World, according to sources familiar with the police investigation."
