HoldtheFrontPage reports today that the Yorkshire Evening Post has launched a 'Keep Leeds Working' campaign designed to get readers back to work at a time when the Johnston Press-owned company is involved in a bitter dispute with its journalists over 18 editorial redundancies.
The paper claims: "The Yorkshire Evening Post understands the difficulties many of our readers are facing and we want to help."
Father of the NUJ chapel Pete Lazenby said: "It's a rather odd coincidence that, at a time when they are in the process of trying to sack 10 per cent of the editorial workforce, they should launch a campaign like this. They don't seem to have any sense of irony."
