Action postponed in Yorkshire Post dispute

Journalists at Yorkshire Post Newspapers postponed planned industrial action today.
NUJ members at the Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Evening Post, and Leeds Weekly News had been due to hold a union meeting at noon.
The NUJ claims the move left Johnston Press, publisher of YPN, with an unnecessary bill from the Press Association which has taken on extra work from the company on strike days.
The dispute over redundancies has so far seen nine days of picketing at the Johnston Press company’s Leeds headquarters. The next action is scheduled for 7am tomorrow.
Chris Morley, NUJ northern regional organiser, said: “Oddly the company seemed cross that our members decided to work today. If they were prepared to invest in journalism rather than strikebreaking this dispute could be settled straight away.”
