MPs have put down an Early Day Motion calling for greater protection of journalists' sources following the Suzanne Breen case. It "regrets that many police forces fail to recognise the importance of the right of journalists to protect his or her sources."
The EDM adds that the importance of protecting journalists' sources is internationally recognised and calls for new guidance to be issued to police forces to remind them of the need to respect freedom of the press.
