Don't use the riots to loot our media freedoms

I've written an article for TheMediaBriefing today arguing that the press and social media need to come together to stop politicians using the riots and hacking scandal to trample all over our freedoms.

I was struck by the way seasoned press freedom campaigners like the Campaign to Protect Journalists and Reporters Without Borders can immediately see what an appalling example restricting social media during civil unrest in UK would set for evil, repressive regimes across the world.

If they can see that, why can't our politicians?
