Boris Johnson joked at the Tory conference this week that Manchester was one of the great British cities he was yet to insult.He needn't have worried. Jon Gaunt has done the job for him in the Sun today.
Gaunty, who was broadcasting live from the conference on SunTalk, writes in his Sun column: "I understand now why The Smiths are so miserable. Manchester can be such a depressing wet hole. Our hotel was brilliant but it was set in an area that made the Lebanon look attractive. No wonder all the United fans come from London." Ouch!
