Echo plans community website network

Newsquest's Northern Echo is planning to launch a network of community websites for towns, cities and villages across the north east of England.
Thirteen of the Echo’s Your Community hyperlocal websites are currently live and there are plans to unveil more over the coming months.
Content for the sites is entirely generated by community correspondents recruited by the Echo.
Areas covered by the websites range from towns and cities such as Darlington and Durham to smaller communities such as the village of Willington.
The Echo is planning to recruit more correspondents over the coming months, allowing it to launch more websites.
Echo assistant editor. Nigel Burton said: “In six months time I would like to see us with 50 or 60 correspondents and ideally within two to three years I hope we would have an entire network website covering the north east.”
