Aidan White, general secretary of the International Federation of Journalists, is to leave the organisation after 23 years.
The IFJ said in a statement: "The General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is to leave the organisation. Aidan White, who has been with the Federation since 1987, will leave on 31 March 2011. The Executive Committee of the IFJ, meeting in Brussels from 27-28 November, finalised a mutual separation agreement with Mr. White.
"They also agreed the process for his succession and the appointment of a new General Secretary in the early part of next year."
White was a well known NUJ activist before becoming IFJ general secretary.
