Protest camp outside St. Paul's occupies media


The Occupy London protests outside St. Paul's Cathedral dominated the news in the week ending October 30, according to journalisted.

Occupy London generated, 294 articles (including the resignation of Canon Giles Fraser, 51 articles; the reopening of the Cathedral, 47 articles; and argument over thermal scans suggesting tents in the camp were left vacant overnight, 37 articles).

The ongoing Eurozone debt crisis, was the subject of 204 articles; the Government survives a large backbench rebellion on the EU referendum vote in the House of Commons, 199 articles; the clash between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand sparks accusations of racism following the QPR-Chelsea match, 183 articles; Vincent Tabak is found guilty of murdering Joanna Yeates and sentenced to life in prison, 120 articles; an earthquake in the Turkish city of Van kills over 500 and leads to a large-scale rescue operation, 103 articles.

Covered little, according to journalisted, was WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to face extradition ruling, 10 articles; new Boeing 787 Dreamliner makes maiden flight, 9 articles; Brazil's Sports Minister, Orlando Silva, resigns over allegations of corruption, the fifth cabinet minister to do so this year, 7 articles.
