In an interview with the Sunday Times, Johnston Press ceo Ashley Highfield (top) has hinted that the company may drop "Press" from its name.
The interview by Andrew Davidson is headlined: "Flash Ash battles to save zombie newspaper empire"
Davidson writes of Highfield: "His brief is to build Johnston a brave new world. 'And I don’t identify this company by the medium with which it disseminates its media,' he [Ashley] adds firmly."
Davidson asks: "But isn’t it called Johnston Press?" Highfield replies "At the moment.”
He has already said that Johnston Press is switching to a "digital first" strategy.
