New direction for GMG's Simon Waldman

Simon Waldman, the Guardian Media Group group's director of digital strategy and development, announced on Twitter today that he is leaving to join LoveFilm. Waldman is from May 17 to become group product director for the DVD rental subscription service, which is moving into digital distribution. Waldman was launch editor of Guardian Unlimited in 1999.
His departure comes just as Emily Bell, director of digital content for Guardian News and Media, has announced she is leaving to take up a post at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism as director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism.
