Times assistant ed speaks from behind the paywall

While everyone seems to be playing a guessing game about how The Times' online traffic has been hit by the introduction this month of a paywall, News International has remained silent.
However, an estimate by Malcolm Coles on his blog that the number of people paying to access The Times' website since its gone behind a paywall is 46,154 a day has provoked a response from Tom Whitwell, assistant editor of The Times.
He has commented on Coles' blog to say:"I've just checked the daily # of visitors on the new site, and I'm pleased to say that you are *spectacularly* underestimating that number."
