NS to merge marketing and communications

The Newspaper Society, which represents the local and regional press, is to merge its communications and marketing departments in January.

Lynne Anderson, communications director at the Newspaper Society, will become communications and marketing director from January, with responsibility for developing an integrated communications and marketing strategy for the NS and its members.

A new Communications and Marketing Committee will be formed under the chairmanship of Danny Cammiade, chief operating officer at Johnston Press.

The changes results from Robert Ray, marketing director of the Newspaper Society, deciding earlier in the year that he wished to leave the NS in January to seek fresh challenges in the agency/media owner world after seven years leading the marketing arm.

Lynne Anderson will continue to have management responsibilities for the NS and NPA, including deputising for the NS/NPA director David Newell.
