Readers of The Times are happiest in the UK

Readers of The Times are the happiest in the UK, according to research released by Mintel.

The Times (naturally) reports "consumers who take The Times are more satisfied with their lot than readers of any other British daily newspaper".

It tells its readers: "Some 60 per cent of you reported being content with your life against a national average of 50 per cent. This compares to 45 per cent of Daily Star readers, and 47 per cent of those lost, misguided souls who do not read any newspaper.

"Even the readers of other quality journals are grumps in comparison: just 49 per cent of Independent and 52 per cent of Guardian readers told Mintel researchers they were unable to utter the phrase 'I am satisfied with my life' truthfully."

The Times is behind a paywall
