MEN photographer arrested covering street brawl

A Manchester Evening News photographer was arrested while covering a street fight which broke out after a court hearing in Manchester into an alleged assault on Paddy Doherty, the star of reality TV show Big Fat Gypsy Weddings.

The MEN reports on its website: "He was challenged by a police officer and defended his right to take photographs of the incident, which was in a public place.

"But he was bundled into the back of a police car and was told he was being arrested for a breach of the peace.

"Other MEN photographers were threatened with arrest if they did not delete images. They refused to remove their camera cards and no further arrests were made. After an apparent intervention by a senior officer, our photographer was released without charge."
