Up to 90 jobs to go at Midlands newspaper group

HoldtheFrontPage is reporting more grim news for the regional press today with Midland News Association, owner of the Wolverhampton-based Express & Star, the Shropshire Star and a number of weekly titles, saying it plans to make up to 90 redundancies.

The Wolverhampton-based Express & Star is the biggest selling regional newspaper in the country.

It is unclear how many of the redundancies, around 10 per cent of the total workforce, will be editorial posts, and the MNA says it hopes the bulk of the cuts can be achieved by voluntary redundancies.
