Two council magazines to close as cuts bite

Two councils in West Sussex are to save an annual total of £100,000 after closing their council magazines as budget cuts bite, the Worthing Herald has reported.

Vibe was published three times a year since 2007 but now Worthing Borough Council is closing it after Whitehall’s grant for 2011-2013 was reduced by £1.13 million.

Published by Adur District Council, Adur Outlook is also to be axed.

The demise of Vibe and Adur Outlook will save both councils a combined total of around £100,000 a year.

Vibe had a circulation of about 53,000, including an audio version sent to more than 250 people.

It is estimated that each edition, which was delivered to homes by Royal Mail, cost every household in the town just over 16p.
