Brown will take charge of Johnston's North West

The remit of Steve Brown, who is to take over as managing director of Johnston Press North this week, will include taking charge of the company's North-West division which will cease to exist as a separate entity, HoldtheFrontPage reports today.
The North-West division included two daily papers, the Lancashire Evening Post and the Blackpool Gazette, along with a number of weekly titles.
HTFP says as a result of the changes, Margaret Hilton, the divisional md for the North-West, left the company yesterday. It also reports that Amanda Davidson-Young stood down as managing director of the company's East Midlands Newspapers subsidiary, which includes the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. She is being replaced by Richard Parkinson, currently managing director of Anglian Newspapers.
