Kelvin MacKenzie on the Independent: "why don't they send it to Switzerland and put us all out of our misery."
Kevin Marsh, head of the BBC College of Journalism, on multi-media skills: "Don't think they are an end in themselves. We are spending too much time talking about the applications rather than what they can do. Stay outside the bubble."
John Ryley, head of Sky News: "There remains one more branch of our democratic system which broadcasting has still not properly penetrated - the courts. If the legislature is to be subject to far greater scrutiny so too must the judiciary, so the public can fairly judge the balance of responsibility between them."
Blogger Guido Fawkes' advice to potential new owner of the Independent Alexander Lebedev : "If you are looking for an editor to move the Indy from the Guardian dominated liberal-left space to the market opportunity on the liberal-right, there is one perfect candidate available. The Indy could become the Cameroon’s house-paper with the inside track on the next government if the editor was Matthew d’Ancona."
Telegraph columnist Charles Moore on his refusal to pay the BBC licence fee while Jonathan Ross was employed by the BBC: "I have twice been visited by enforcement officers from TV Licensing. On the second occasion, shortly before Christmas, they claimed the right to caution me (though they have no legal powers, and are merely employees of a private contractor called Capita). Then they noted down what I had to say about why I would not pay the fee, warned me that I might be laying myself open to prosecution, and left."
