A new ranking of 200 jobs in the US in 2009 in The Wall Street Journal by careercast.com puts newspaper reporter at a lowly number 184.
The study uses five criterion: environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress.
Newspaper reporter came in between seamen (183) and stevedore (185). Ranked higher than reporters were janitor (83), teacher (116), maid (131), bus driver (137), chauffeur (160) and police officer (180).
However, the job of newspaper reporter was ranked higher than that of a photojournalist (189), a dairy farmer (197), and an ironworker (198).

Topping the poll was the job of an actuary, which sounds boring, and last at 200 was roustabout, which sounds far more interesting.
