Rusbridger: 'NoW trying to rubbish our story'

Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger told MPs today that the News of the World had been mounting an "aggressive campaign" to rubbish his newspaper's story on the phone-hacking allegations.
Rusbridger, appearing before the culture, media and sport committee, was asked if was true that newspaper groups were ringing each other up agreeing not to follow up the Guardian's story too hard. He replied: "Well, they didn't call me."
The Guardian editor said the Press Complaints Commission only worked if people told the truth and claimed it was not suited to carrying out investigations.
Nick Davies, the Guardian journalist who broke the hacking allegations presented what he said was new evidence linking senior NoW journalists to the private detective jailed for phone hacking.
News International is due to give evidence to the committee next week.
